Not U again!!!

I found a common denominator in the loss that closed out Texas Stadium and the loss that opened up Cowboys Stadium. It's easy to say the defense, or Tony Romo, but I was looking for something a little deeper. I found it and I am quite embarassed I didn't realize this earlier.....

THE U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did we not see this? Flashback to the Ravens game. Tony Romo throws two interceptions to Ed Reed. Ed Reed's alma mater = The U. The Cowboys give up a devastating mile-long touchdown run to Willis McGahee with 3 minutes to go in the game. Willis McGahee's alma mater = The U. Now, move on to last night's game. Romo's first touchdown pass at Cowboys Stadium goes to Bruce Johnson, who happens to play for the Giants and conveniently took his interception to the house. Bruce Johnson was an undrafted free agent, which means we passed over him seven times in the draft - he couldn't have been happy. In case you were wondering, Bruce Johnson's alma mater = The U. Romo's second pick six (though it was not ruled a touchdown because the ref made a huge mistake blowing his whistle) was courtesy of Kenny Phillips. Mr. Phillips also intercepted another Romo pass later in the game when the Cowboys were driving, giving him two for the game - both at very inopportune times for the Cowboys. I almost forgot to mention that Kenny Phillips' alma mater = The U. It seems like these Hurricanes conspire to beat us every time. The U alumni on the Ravens were not happy to be scheduled as the last game at Texas Stadium, and clearly, The U alumni on the Giants were not happy about opening up Cowboys Stadium. They both took part in posting 33 points on the Cowboys in each game. If I could offer you some sort of advice to take from this, it would be the following ... When scheduling your homecoming games, whether it is High School, College, or Pro, it is best to make sure that your opponents (including coaches, assistant coaches, players, trainers, water boys, and even relatives of players) have no ties to The U.

  1. While I could be the biggest "U" fan in Dallas, I must point out that the Cowboys did beat a team on Monday night with 2 guys from "THE U"...Jon Beason and Damieone Lewis. Maybe they are turning over a new leaf...just a thought.

I will now return to mentally preparing for this weekends showdown with Ou (there is only one U!)
